SUMMARY OF THE BIBLE
Deuteronomy 15 and 16
Chapter 15
God warns Israel not to get “smart” when the seventh year is approaching and try to wickedly etch their way out of taking care of the poor. If the poor man cries to God, God will hear him and it will be sin to you. God tells Israel to give and be happy in doing so.

Lesson
He says that if we obey His law, poverty will not exist. And because His law will never be perfectly obeyed, poverty will always exist. Regardless of the extent of poverty in our land and across the world, the command remains: Be openhanded. We can work toward the ideal of ending poverty by following God's guidelines.

Chapter 16
Observe the month of Aviv and celebrate the Passover of the LORD your God, because in the month of Aviv he brought you out of Egypt by night. 2 Sacrifice as the Passover to the LORD your God an animal from your flock or herd at the place the LORD will choose as a dwelling for his Name.

Lesson
You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.
