Bible Summary 1st Samuel Chapter 21 - 24

1st Samuel Chapter 21: In his uncertain circumstances David went to the house of the LORD. It seemed unusual to Ahimelech that a prominent man like David wandered around the villages of Judea by himself. It made Ahimelech think something was wrong, so he asked David, “Why are you alone, and no one is with you?” and David replied, the king has ordered me on some business Do not let anyone know anything about the business on which I send you Ahimelech knew nothing of the conflict between David and Saul. It seemed strange and dangerous to him that David traveled alone.
When David came to the tabernacle in Nob he was hungry and knew he needed food both now and later.
David was happy to have a good weapon (There is none like it). As David held this sword, he should have remembered how he came to win it. He didn’t do it with lies and half-truths. He did it with a bold trust in God, a trust that believed God and trusted Him to sort out the consequences. And finally David acted in a strange manner, scratching on the doors of the gate and letting saliva fall down on his beard. It was as if David foamed at the mouth just for him to be able to escape from danger.

Lesson learnt: Put your faith in God always

1st Samuel Chapter 22: David escape to the Adullam cave, and Saul murdered the priests.

1st Samuel Chapter 23: David saves Keilah from the Philistines: The Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are robbing the threshing floors: They brought this plea for help to David and not to King Saul because Saul was not fulfilling his role as king over Israel. It was Saul’s job to protect Keilah and it was Saul’s job to fight the Philistines, but Saul wasn’t doing his job and the Lord called David to do it. God loved His people too much to let them suffer under an unfaithful king. If Saul wasn’t up to the task, God would raise up a man who was, and David was the one. God directed David to act like a king even if he was not the king yet.
David escapes from Keilah because Saul wanted to kill him.

1st Samuel Chapter 24: In the previous chapter, God miraculously delivered David by drawing Saul away to fight the Philistines at the moment Saul was ready to capture David. But when Saul was done with the Philistines, he went back to pursuing David. But David had the opportunity to kill Saul but he didn't do it

Lesson learnt: We often wish that our next victory would be a permanent victory. We wish that the spiritual enemies who pursue us like Saul pursued David would simply give up, and we wouldn’t have to bother with them anymore. But even when we have victory and they are sent away, they come back, and will keep coming back until we go to glory with the LORD. That is the only permanent victory we will find.
