Genesis chapter 25 is telling us about the last Days of Abraham. After the birth of his sons, he sets his house in order with prudence and justice and he did this while he yet lived. It is wisdom for men to do while they live as far as they can. Let us not close the history of Abraham without blessing God for such a testimony of the triumph of faith.
Genesis chapter 26 is telling us that the real worth of God’s promises can not be lessened to a believer that may befall him if God engage to be with us and we are where he would have us to be, nothing but our own unbelief and distrust can prevent our comfort. The obedience of Abraham to the divine command was evidence of that faith whereby as a sinner, he was justified before God and the effect of that love whereby true faith works. God testifies that he approved this obedience to encourage others especially Isaac.
