Most people don't associate Iowa with black metal. The season of winter usually sparks my interest in tunes by Ulver, Blut Aus Nord, or Paysage d'Hiver. There was an insurgence of black metal in Des Moines a few years back however after listening I have to give them a poser stamp. Major highlights include Satan's Almighty Penis (Bensmasher of 319 Dude and Ron of When Bitter Spring Sleeps), Dryad, and Erasmus.
