Bryce Olson, Global Marketing Director for the Health and Life Sciences Group at Intel, joins us live from the Intel AI Lounge at SXSW. Olson's unique journey to Intel's HLS Group began with his own stage IV cancer diagnosis. Wanting to work in healthcare, Olson joined Intel HLS, where technologies like genomics and precision medicine "blew [his] mind and changed the whole course of [his] life." Armed with knowledge of cutting-edge treatments that target molecular drivers of cancer, Olson insisted on DNA sequencing and used the results to gain access to a perfect-fit drug trial that shut down his cancer. Olson is now raising awareness for this new way to fight cancer through a new movement called FACTS (Fighting Advanced Cancer Through Songs). Donations (http://intel.ly/2oy6niZ) and a large portion of net proceeds from their first album (http://intel.ly/2oyUf0G) will go towards enabling greater patient expansion into cutting-edge precision medicine trials. In this interview, Olson talks about his own precision medicine journey, helping more people gain access to precision medicine, and how Intel AI will power a new era of cancer discoveries and therapies.
