Intel Chip Chat – Network Insights audio podcast with Allyson Klein: Lenovo is navigating the shift as communication service providers move away from traditional locked-in appliances and seek a virtualized infrastructure. Charles Ferland, Vice President & General Manager of CoSP solutions for Lenovo joins Intel Chip Chat Network Insights in this interview recorded as a virtual livecast in lieu of MWC Barcelona.

Charles highlights the collaboration between Intel and Lenovo to accelerate the acceptance of virtualized architecture in the industry, through ecosystem enablement and Intel® Select Solutions. To help CoSPs accelerate NFV deployments, Lenovo upgraded its validated configurations of Lenovo ThinkSystem SR650 and SR630 Servers with 2nd generation Intel® Xeon® Scalable Processors as part of the second version of Intel® Select Solutions for NFVi. The high-performance CPUs, balanced I/O, and on-board acceleration with Intel QuickAssist Technology, combined with optimizations through DPDK, allow exceptional throughput and latency.

Lenovo developed Lenovo Open Cloud Automation (LOC-A) as an end-to-end cloud automation platform that enables customers to plan, deploy and manage operations and benchmark performance in distributed cloud infrastructures, including those leveraging MEC architectures. With support for Kubernetes, OpenStack, Red Hat OpenShift and VMware Cloud Foundation, CoSPs can use LOC-A to automate deployment and operations processes for containers, VMs and bare metal platforms.

Hear about the value customers can expect to achieve with LOC-A as well as how this solution offers a path forward for the industry to effectively prepare for the impact of 5G.
