Sacramento State President Robert Nelsen discusses the 75th anniversary of the university and welcoming back students. We say goodbye to CapRadio Morning Edition Host Donna Apidone, who is stepping away after more than 20 years.

Sacramento State's anniversary

Sacramento State is back in session, and it's a big year. The university is celebrating 75 years, its diamond anniversary. The residence halls are full, and if you've been anywhere near Sac State, you know that traffic is back too. Sacramento State University expects to welcome back around 31,000 students as the campus emerges from the pandemic. Sac State President Robert S. Nelsen joined us in the CapRadio studios and outlined his plan for the future while celebrating the university's past.

Donna Apidone

If you have been listening to CapRadio for any time over the last two decades, you no doubt have heard the soothing and distinctive voice of Donna Apidone. She has done it all here. Donna has hosted the midday show on the music station, CapRadio Reads, and even Insight. For the past 21 years, she kept us moving, grooving, and up to date on Morning Edition. Donna is that familiar voice who guides us through our morning with her one-of-a-kind charm, wit, and calm. When the news is tough, and the world is seemingly turned upside-down, listening to Donna gave us that sense of peace, clarity, and that feeling of "everything is going to be OK." After 21 years, Donna is stepping away as the host of Morning Edition. Insight sat down with Donna about the decades of meaningful conversations she's led here at CapRadio. You can follow Donna's work on her website, DonnaApidone.com
