While much of the country is focused on the opioid epidemic, San Diego County is dealing with an old, but familiar problem: methamphetamine abuse. In the fourth installment of INSIGHT, NBC 7's Tom Jones and Mari Payton discuss the increase in meth-related arrests and deaths in San Diego County, resulting in law enforcement calling the region “ground zero” for the country’s meth problem. With the help of three other NBC 7 reporters, the team looks at the crisis from all angles, including support services for addicts and what border agents are doing to try to stop the drug from entering the country.

INSIGHT is a podcast that dives behind the stories making headlines in our community. The team behind INSIGHT and NBC 7's Investigative team are: Tom Jones (@TomJonesNBC), Dorian Hargrove (@DorianHargrove), Rory Devine (@RoryNBCSD), Mari Payton (@MariNBCSD), Paul Krueger (@pkruegernbcsd), and JW August (@JW_August). INSIGHT is produced by Matthew Lewis (@MatthewLewis89).
