This week I chat with Chris Ryan.   https://www.chrisryanmusic.ca/

Chris Ryan has been entertaining crowds for over a decade. With his gritty voice, stellar guitar playing and high energy stage presence, Chris has become a mainstay in the Atlantic Canadian entertainment scene.  His efforts are now paying off at radio with over 1800 BDS spins to date.

Chris has had the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Halifax Urban Folk Festival and Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival, as well as share the stage with country music legend Toby Keith, Canadian royalty Blue Rodeo, Dallas Smith, and Great Big Sea's Alan Doyle.

In 2014, Chris began accompanying CCMA nominee & CMT “Big In A Small Town” finalist Quentin Reddy.  While working with Quentin, Chris played stages at the Canadian Country Music Awards, East Coast Music Awards and appeared on the Bell Media show “Club One New Releases”, filmed & broadcast in both Newfoundland & Trinidad and Tobago.  Since the release of his self titled debut album, Chris has caught the attention of the East Coast music industry, playing showcases during East Coast Music Week and Music Nfld. & Labrador Week, along with receiving nominations for “Country Recording of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year”.

Chris’ songwriting skills allowed him to be part of the 2016 ECMA SOCAN Song House, working with Nashville’s songwriting guru Ralph Murphy and the 2019 Canadian Song Conference "Canadian Songwriter Challenge", co-writing with artists from across Canada. This also led to Chris touring with Ottawa Valley artist Kelly Prescott from Canada to Tennessee and co-writing in Nashville.

Numerous singles from Chris' debut album continue to receive regular rotation on radio stations in Atlantic Canada and he was selected as an East semi-finalist in the 2018 SiriusXM-CCMA Top of the Country Project.

Chris’ last single “Last Forever” peaked in the 70s on the BDS Canadian Country radio charts in 2019, was added to the official Spotify Canada “Down Home Country” playlist and was in regular rotation on the SiriusXM CBC Country channel.

Chris has been hard at work writing & co-writing songs for his follow-up album to be released in 2020 and is currently on the road in Canada with Nfld. and Labrador award winning country artist Carolina East and Winnipeg fiddler Sierra Noble
