COVID-19 has placed a tremendous strain on the home and community-based services system, which has been plagued by high rates of staff turnover and is consistently under-resourced to deliver person-centered services to all people in need of home and community-based services and supports. Many HCBS providers are also grappling with recent legislative changes that are moving the system from one that is focused on the capacity or convenience of providers, to one that is focused on supporting people in living the lives they want in their communities. This podcast explores the story of one man, Kenny, and his provider agency, Marrakech, and highlights how they partnered to make the necessary changes to Kenny’s services to meet his goals and preferences.
