In today's episode, we sat down and talked with Canadian Strongman Mitchell Hooper!


 


Mitchell Hooper (aka the Moose) exploded onto the Strongman scene in 2021 after deadlifting 475kg at under 140kg body weight.


Mitchell has only been doing strength sports for three years and recently made his professional debut, representing Canada at the 2022 World’s Strongest Man competition.


Mitchell won his qualifying heat against seasoned competitors and made the final where he finished 8th in the world as a rookie.


Mitchell recently competed in Giants Live where he placed 2nd. He is now preparing for the World Deadlift Championships where he plans on breaking the world deadlift record.


During his amateur lifting career Mitchell competed in Strongman and Powerlifting while living and working in Australia. Mitchell won every competition he entered and broke multiple national records including a 475kg deadlift and 232kg atlas stone.


In 2021, Mitchell also placed first in the Static Monsters Worldwide competition with a new World Record total of 665kg. Mitchell draws on his varied sporting background which included marathon running, bodybuilding, NFL, golf and swimming.


Outside of Strongman, Mitchell runs an Exercise Physiology Clinic in Barrie, Ontario where he hopes to use exercise to improve the quality of life of the general population.


Mitchell is also focused on growing his Strength Coaching business – Team Moose which provides sport strength specific coaching and programming to athletes interested in powerlifting and strongman.


Mitchell is focused on creating a positive legacy and lives by the motto “Good Enough, Every Day.”
