*Meet Dr. Laura Burgis:*

Dr. Burgis is president of the Human Values Center, a B corporation that exists to provide workplace learning, training, assessment and evaluation for organizations and communities committed to bringing about the best humanity has to offer. She has a passion for building innovative programs that support holistic human development, inclusive of intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual development. Laura sees her purpose in life as that of catalyst for global spiritual and higher consciousness formation to bring about social cohesion as the vehicle to foster improved life experiences in individuals and within communities.  Compassionate action is at the heart of her life’s calling.

Dr. Burgis spent more than 25 years in higher education, focusing her research, scholarship, teaching and administrator roles understanding and building learning communities that can offer profound learning and experiences that transform people in positive ways.  Her research and publications have focused on contemplative education, holistic pedagogy, curriculum development which promotes self-knowledge and empathy; as well as social entrepreneurship and social enterprise.

Dr. Burgis is currently a trustee for Saybrook University.  She is also a trustee for Mulmangcho School for N. Korean refugees in South Korea; Director for Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School in Claremont, CA; and board member of Balthazar &Rose, a Los Angeles based company which provides jobs for Syrian refugees seeking asylum in Tunisia, Europe and the United States. Laura is also trustee for the International Charter for Compassion, a social movement now in 500 cities worldwide, representing 660 million people globally who are dedicated to culture transformation.
