Roselyn Tso delivers remarks after being sworn in as the new director of the Indian Health Service.

Tso, a citizen of the Navajo Nation, is the first permanent director of the IHS in nearly two years. Her swearing-in ceremony took place at the Department of the Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C., on September 27, 2022.

"I am very excited," Tso said. "I've already had two meetings with my staff and laid out the expectations that I have moving forward with the Indian Health Service . Not because I can do that -- because it's the right thing to do."

"It's time to turn the page and set a new page for IHS," said Tso, who has worked for the agency for more than 30 years.

"I welcome the challenges and opportunities yet to come," said Tso.
