Six weeks after the wedding, her 9-year-old daughter was taken away by social services and Clark was accused of sexually molesting her. Susan was told she had to force Clark to move out and support the allegation or she would never get her daughter back. The child protection system in the 1980s was broken and had become the very thing it was established to prevent. Their situation went from bad, to worse, to truly bizarre. But instead of caving to the pressure, they fought back, became activists, and started a national movement for system reform. Susan’s story is told in her recently released book Wheels of Injustice: Saving My Child from the Child Savers. God’s grace is the book’s spiritual theme as it explores her fluctuating relationship with God and ultimate reconciliation. After a lifetime career in business development, Susan now lives in the country outside a small town in Texas with her husband and their four dogs.
