In 1734 a massive fire gutted Montreal. The fire burned so fast and so fierce that in the end over half the town had been destroyed. The blame quickly came down on the head of a slave named Angelique and her lover, a white houseboy that worked in the same house. Although the trial was swift as was her execution, scholars still can't decide what really happened that fateful night.
