Captivating your audience is so important, and nothing will tune out your audience faster than a rambling session. Rambling comes in many forms - sometimes it’s too much detail, circling around a topic, or simply rephrasing things over and over. Whatever your rambling style may be, you want to learn how to stop it!

Notice when you’re rambling, pause, and say out loud, “and my point is this.”Avoid the curse of knowledge and eliminate jargon. Speak in plain language. If you notice someone else is on a tangent, simply saying “Let’s get back to…” can redirect the conversation.
