Monday Market Report: Cattle feeder futures up a buck

Good Monday morning welcome to the Idaho Farm Bureau market report, available on Spotify and iTunes. We had good rain showers across the state over the weekend. We’re coming to you from Boise where it’s 39-degrees here this morning, 36 degrees in Pocatello and IF, 39-degrees in the Magic Valley, and 36-degrees in Moscow and CDA areas.

Onto the markets

May 21st Corn futures opens at $6.56, which is up another 5 cents,

Chicago wheat: Cash SRW Wheat is at $6.78 1/4, down 5 3/4 cents,

 | Domestic wheat futures are finally leveling off after double-digit gains last week. We’re mixed this morning, with winter wheat in the red. CBT Soft Red Winter futures are down a penny to 4 cents. KC Hard Red futures open with a penny loss. CME will expand winter wheat futures’ daily price limits by a nickel effective May 3.

Local wheat steady and strong this morning:

 In Burley:
- Soft White Wheat | 6.20 | unchanged
- Hard Red Winter | 6.20 | up 2
- Hard Red Spring | 6.65 | unchanged
- Barley | 9.50 | unchanged
- Hard White | 6.20 | up 

 | The Monday cattle market opens the session with fats 12 to 47 cents lower in April and June, but as much as 60 cents higher through Dec. Cash cattle trading for the week was mostly $119 - $120 for the South and $120 - $121 in the North. Feeders open the futures session with gains of $0.65 to $1.65. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was down $1.17 to $136.36.

Sugar opens at 16 cents per pound and opens up 1.8 percent

Heating oil opens at 49.40 up 50 cents from last week.

Milk opens strong at  $17.64 and holding steady from last week.

Supreme hay going for 190, Feeder hay up to 140 if you can find it.
