So why this podcast? And why me?

At the start of lockdown in South Africa, I had the opportunity to think hard about what I love and what I could help fellow South Africans with. What am I good at and what am I passionate about? I bashed my head against the wall for a few days, figuratively and woke up one morning with the words – ‘I work for me’ in my head. As though they had been planted in my brain, waiting for some watering in order to start growing. I knew instantly what it meant.

I've worked for myself for over 12 years and I still do (sometimes I'm not sure how!), and in this new reality we find ourselves, people who don't work for themselves, or who don't have multiple streams of income may find themselves struggling to stay financially afloat. The idea of this podcast is to help people look beyond a 9-5 job or a single income stream as a form of employment. By chatting to people who work 'differently' I think we can all learn how to work for ourselves and develop interesting ways of creating work for ourselves in a new world.

So, I hope you will join me in hearing what these businesses and self-starters are all about, what insights they can share and hopefully inspire you to run your own businesses, so that you can work for you, and enjoy your life as you’d like to.
