Man, this was a great show. Opening Day! This was like Eight Men Out, Pride Of The Yankees, Bang The Drum Slowly, Bad News Bears, The Natural, Field Of Dreams, Major League and Ken Burn's Baseball all rolled into one beautiful mustard stained, peanut shelled, beer soaked, cracker jack sticky loveletter to the gorgeousity that is the first day of the MLB season...except there wasn't one this year. So this show meant EVEN MORE! I don't need to hard sell this one. It's all here. The first pitch(thrown by scrappy upstart ace Lulu Bern), Halsey Hall, Merkle and his boner, Yasiel Puig, Tommy John's ulnar collateral ligament in the medial elbow replacement with another tendon, Stolen Signs, some readings from some beautiful baseball texts as well as some amazing stories from Bernsteinn himself (that time they pulled a pistol on him at Wrigley Field).
