On July 14, 1970 the Young Lords took over Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx to demand better care, improved conditions, and a variety of patient and worker rights for the communities of color. The Young Lords demanded a “People’s Hospital,” and advocated for equitable healthcare. Their vision is one of the healthcare models that inspired People's Health Sanctuary.
