Looking for a place in the Capital District to get out and explore nature? The Department of Environmental Conservation's Five Rivers Environmental Education Center in Delmar is it, with 450 acres and 10.5 miles of trails. Gina Jacks, the Center’s director, and Paulette Doudoukjian, Executive Director of the Friends of Five Rivers, the non-profit group that supports the Center’s work, talk about the value of walking in nature, the many programs offered at Five Rivers, the importance of the Center as a birding destination, and more. Programs are offered for everyone from age 2 through adult. They each mention an event on Thursday 11/9: a bird walk in the morning, and a fundraising gathering in the evening. Paulette also invites listeners to consider volunteering. For more information, visit www.dec.ny.gov/education/1835.html and/or https://friendsoffiverivers.org/.
