A recent Columbia County Board of Supervisors' meeting became contentious after an individual being released from the county jail was turned over to ICE. Several county supervisors believe the Sheriff is not complying with the county’s formal policy of not working with ICE. Columbia County Sheriff Don Krapf stated his office’s non-cooperation policy with federal immigration agents only applies to its law enforcement division, and not to corrections staff under his command.
