Virginia Rappe was a stunningly beautiful silent film actress, model, clothing designer, and early advocate for women's rights. These are the things she should be remembered for, not her gruesome murder in 1921 by a drunken silent film comedian named Fatty Arbuckle. This was the first major Hollywood scandal and subsequent victim smearing. Sadly not much has changed in 100 years. Women are still falling victim to the Hollywood system. Virginia was the first.
