For Black History Month, episode 12 kicks off our first episode in a series of episodes dedicated to telling the lesser-known stories of crimes against Black Americans -- the stories that we rarely learned about in our history books. Today, Emily heads to Ellaville, Georgia to tell the story of Rosa Lee Ingram, a widowed sharecropper with 12 children, who was sentenced to death after defending herself from a white man. Then Rachel goes back to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to talk about Mumia Abu-Jamal, an American journalist and political activist sentenced to death and then to life in prison for a crime many are not convinced he committed. Hopefully, you’re horrified!
