We got some fire on Hoop Dreams this week, our guy Dee Brown, a Chicago basketball legend, joins the guys on this episode. Dee reflects on his basketball journey, from growing up on the Westside of Chicago looking up to his brothers, who pushed him to be a better player and helped him stay on the right path, to his high school days at Proviso East where he was named McDonald's All American. Dee spent 4 years as a starting guard at the University of Illinois where he solidified himself as a Chicago legend playing alongside Deron Williams. After being picked by the Utah Jazz in the 2nd round of the NBA Draft he played for the Jazz, Wizards and Suns before heading overseas for a successful pro basketball career where he won a Bulgarian League Championship. Dee dives deep into what motivates him and how he wants to be constantly challenged by surrounding himself with players that are better than him. These are lessons he passes on to the student athletes in his current role as an assistant coach at UIC. Tune in and we guarantee you will learn something from this one.
