We have a repeat appearance this week of St. John the Baptist. This week, though, he defends himself against the temptation to make of himself equal to Christ. Here we see him overcoming the voice of deception by "testing the spirits". If we are to be holy, we must test everything, choosing only that which conduces to Christ increasing, and us decreasing.
