In this special episode, we welcome our first guest onto the podcast. The Rev'd Dr Greg Peters is Servants of Christ Research Professor of Monastic Studies at Nashotah House Theological Seminary. He is the author of The Monkhood of all Believers and The Story of Monasticism.  Using Athanasius' Life of St Anthony as a jumping off point, we spoke about a wide range of issues relating to monasticism and its relevance to the contemporary church and spirituality. Is monasticism an outdated form of arrogant withdrawal from the world, or can we see in monasticism a template for a life of discipleship consisting of periods of prayer and devotion intersected by loving engagement with the world around us?
