As the world eagerly waits for a Covid-19 vaccine, Serum Institute of India’s Adar Poonawalla spoke on the issue at the 18th edition of the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit. ‘The vaccine so far is proving to work really well even in the elderly which was a concern we all had early on, Poonawala said. He further added that they have been making and stockpiling millions of doses ahead of time to get a headstart on the supply. Poonawalla also said that there have been no safety concerns in Indian studies so far. He also said that it could take about 3 to 4 months for the vaccine to be rolled out and added that initial doses would be allocated for all frontline workers, health officials and the elderly.
