Talking Saves Lives:
NEW NUMBER to remember
988 Veterans press 1
It has been in place for a few months, but with September being National Suicide Prevention Month I thought it would be a good time to bring it up.
Also known as Suicide Awareness Month, the month shines a spotlight on a topic not often talked about.
Everyone is affected by suicide, not just the victim. Suicide impacts family and friends long after the loss of a loved one. On average, one person commits suicide every 16.2 minutes. Two-thirds of the people who commit suicide suffer from depression.
I remind myself as well as everyone who listens – talking saves lives.
It takes courage to talk.  It takes strength to talk.  Having problems doesn’t make you weak.  Everyone has problems.  Talking will help.
Remember that your thoughts are just thoughts.  You can change your thoughts.
I am continually reminded of the importance of talking.
