II Chronicles 21 details the reign of Jehoram, the son of Jehoshaphat, as king of Judah. Jehoram secured his throne by murdering his brothers and other potential rivals. His reign was marked by evil practices, including leading Judah into idolatry, which brought divine punishment. The chapter recounts how the prophet Elijah sent Jehoram a letter predicting his downfall due to his wickedness. Consequently, Judah faced invasions from the Philistines and Arabs, who plundered Jerusalem and took Jehoram’s family captive. Jehoram himself suffered a painful and fatal disease as foretold by Elijah, and he died without honor, unloved by his people.
