II Chronicles 18 recounts the alliance between King Jehoshaphat of Judah and King Ahab of Israel. Jehoshaphat agrees to join Ahab in a campaign against Ramoth Gilead. Before the battle, Jehoshaphat insists on seeking the Lord's guidance, leading Ahab to summon his prophets. Despite the unanimous positive prophecy from Ahab’s prophets, Micaiah, a true prophet of the Lord, foretells disaster. Ignoring Micaiah’s warning, Ahab and Jehoshaphat proceed with the battle. Ahab disguises himself, but he is mortally wounded and dies, fulfilling Micaiah’s prophecy. The chapter highlights the consequences of ignoring divine counsel and the dangers of unwise alliances.
