"We're not really nervous, just more ready to get it out", affirmed Kynan Groundwater, vocalist for Diamond Construct ahead of the release of the bands self-titled debut album on May 17. "It's been a long time since we recorded it - we started in April 2018 - so it's getting closer now and we just can't wait for the day to come".With their 2016 E.P Event Horizon the only previous release from the band, Kynan says that the parallels between the two musically are quite significant."We've gone for a heavier direction, definitely", he said, "by drawing inspiration from a few 90's bands like Korn, Slipknot and Meshuggah so there's heaps of heavier grooves but we still stay true to ourselves with our melodic side as well. We've thrown some choruses in there so we've gone for hook, groove-driven choruses with some screaming and guitar riffs"."As well with the guitars", interjected guitarist, and Kynan's brother, Braiden. "We've added more layers in terms of guitar effects and pedals so we're messing with a lot of really interesting stuff. I guess that we've been influenced by electronic and dance music there as well".In the full interview the boys discuss the line between imitation and inspiration and where to draw it, how the album differs musically to Event Horizon, the personal nature of the album and songs, the story behind the cover artwork, their upcoming tour with Born Of Osiris and Chelsea Grin and how you approach a tour of such magnitude.
