Julie Fleming is the founder and CEO of The Purple Sherpa, a nonprofit that educates, encourages, empowers, and embraces dementia family caregivers. She was her father’s sole or primary caregiver for 7 years while he lived with Alzheimer’s disease and vascular dementia. She started sharing video tips to help others avoid challenges and stumbling blocks and learn how to care for themselves while caring for a loved one. The videos were met with overwhelming interest, and The Purple Sherpa was born. The Purple Sherpa shares tips to an audience of over 75,000 people and offers Facebook support groups for dementia family caregivers, those grieving the loss of a loved one to dementia, and one that’s designed to generate conversation among people living with dementia, their caregivers, family & friends, vendors, medical providers, and community members. It also offers grants for respite care and supplies. The principal of Fleming Strategic, Julie also advises attorneys on growing their practices. She’s written 3 books about legal business development, including The Reluctant Rainmaker, Seven Foundations of Time Mastery for Attorneys, and Legal Rainmaking Myths.
