Next Episode: Pacemakers and Syncope

In this episode, Peter and Stuart discuss the link between stress, depression, anxiety and cardiac events.

Stressful life events, such as the death of a spouse, and catastrophic events, such as floods, fires and terrorist attacks, have been linked to an increase in heart attacks and Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, as have anxiety and depression.

It's also well known that there are more heart attacks between 6am and noon than at other times of the day - partly because people are starting to get into the stresses of the day (tackling the morning commute, workload, etc).

Peter and Stuart also discuss depression in people after they have suffered a cardiac event.
