How Safe Is MRI Really? Tobias Gilk MRI Safety Consultant

Originally trained as an architect, Tobias Gilk got involved in MRI safety (20+ years ago) when he was stunned at how little physical environment MRI safety standards there were (there are only slightly more, today). That interest wound up getting him invited to serve on the ACR's MRI Safety Committee (about 16 years ago), where he realized how much he *didn't* know about clinical MRI care.
Since that point he has dedicated much of his life to better understanding MRI safety (both for himself and the professional community). He is a named co-author of three of the ACR MRI Safety Committee's publications, is one of the founding board members and past chair of the American Board of Magnetic Resonance Safety (ABMRS), and holds that organization's MRSO and MRSE certifications. He consults with hospitals on MRI safety issues, and provides MRI safety training. Just this fall he did a 3-day seminar on MRI safety in Dubai.
