Aspiring Headliner USA E11: Lupin

Lupin hasn't sprung up from nowhere; keen eyes will recognise him as Jake Luppen, the vocalist from beloved Minnesota indie outfit Hippo Campus. His debut self-titled record is a departure from the sound he was previously known for, and feels like his 'arrival' of sorts, honing into a more candid approach to songwriting, which he often eschewed in favour of broader, shared experiences of his bandmates. He reveals how striking out as a solo artist has allowed him the space to write about his life and experiences.
