North Carolina defies pollsters' predictions of major electoral gains for progressive Democrats.

North Carolina appears to have delivered its 15 electoral votes to Republican President Donald Trump in the 2020 election. Voters returned Republican Thom Tillis to the U.S. Senate. Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper also won re-election, but Republicans added three new members to the Council of State. The GOP maintained control of both chambers of the N.C. General Assembly and swept statewide judicial races, if current vote totals stand through Nov. 12. This episode of “HeadLocke” highlights expert election analysis from Carolina Journal Editor-in-Chief Rick Henderson and John Locke Foundation Senior Vice President Becki Gray, both of whom chat with JLF’s Donna Martinez. JLF President and CEO Amy O. Cooke, “The Right AOC,” shares her thoughts about major gains on the N.C. Supreme Court and Court of Appeals.
