The famed guitarist and iconic founder of Van Halen lost his battle with throat cancer on Tuesday.

Van Halen’s son Wolf shared the sad news on social media in a post entitled, “the best father I could ever ask for.”

TMZ reports that Van Halen's wife Janie was by his side when he passed.

TMZ:

Sources directly connected to the rock star tell us ... he died at St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica Tuesday. His wife, Janie, was by his side, along with his son, Wolfgang, and Alex, Eddie's brother and drummer.
