Derek “DOA” Allen is an award-winning musician, songwriter, and producer. Raised in Sacramento, California, at the age of five, Derek discovered his love for playing the bass guitar. At age eight, he toured the world with local gospel quartet groups.

Derek played bass guitar in his high school jazz band from 1983 until graduation in 1984. In 1985, Derek relocated to Los Angeles, California, to pursue a professional music career. He got his big break in 1987 when he was asked to play bass on the tv series Sidekicks behind El DeBarge.
