One of the most misunderstood parts of a song is the bridge. Some of the descriptions on the internet are pretty funny... the long piano part at the end of Layla by Derek and the Dominos is not a bridge. A beautiful part, sure. Not a bridge. It’s also not “that bit between the verse and chorus... just filling time before getting to the good part... occasionally done so perfectly it even makes the chorus disappointing”... also not a bridge. And not a very good prechorus either, sounds like... There’s a definite art to good bridge writing. Check this show out for more and some great examples of amazing bridges...
