Episode 38
We kick off our third season of Graphic Novel Explorers Club with Batman: Year One. Join Frankie, Dennis, and Johnny as they discuss the seminal comic book by writer Frank Miller and artist David Mazzucchelli.
Batman: Year One is the origin story of Bruce Wayne becoming Batman and the arrival of Jim Gordon, the future Police Commissioner of Gotham PD, to the city of Gotham. In this episode the gang discusses the fits and start of Bruce Waynes journey to becoming a competent Batman, if Jim Gordon actually did what we think he did with his partner; the grungy and seedy days of Gotham; how Batman: Year One doesn’t quite feel like a Frank Miller book, even though it is a Frank Miller book; and the storytelling and art of Batman: Year One.
