The Rev. Dr. Darrel D. Proffitt is an Episcopal priest, ordained in June 1991.  Darrel has served four different churches during his ministry, from Chicago to Houston.  Darrel received his Master's degree in Divinity in 1991 and his doctorate in 1999.  His local church in Lawrence Kansas was recognized as the second fastest growing Episcopal Church in the United States.  He was awarded the "Merit Award" from his seminary, Seabury-Western Theological Seminary in 2004 as an outstanding leader in the Episcopal Church for his innovative approach to church leadership.

He served Church of the Holy Apostles in Katy Texas from November 2007 to February 2018 before his decision to step down from full-time ministry to focus on writing and helping other congregations.  Currently Darrel is working on his first book, reflecting on his time in congregational leadership.

Darrel's decision to leave full-time congregational leadership emerged from the tragic death of his son.  He and his wife Julie, are parents of two other children and three grandchildren.  He describes his grief work as a "fundamental re-working of his theology."  What emerged was an inclusive view of God's love and mercy.

He continues to preach from time to time at a local Lawrence Kansas non-denominational church.  Those sermons can be found at https://vintagelawrence.com/.  You can also find sermons at http://www.cotha.org   Darrel has an online presence on social media, especially on Facebook.  You can find him at https://www.facebook.com/dprofit and also at his author's page found at https://www.facebook.com /AuthorDarrelProffitt/.  Darrel can also be found at Not All Who Wander Are Lost | Ministry After The Local Church
