The people have arrived on the edge of the Promised Land and God tells Moses to send spies into the land to check it out.
Why? Well, remember, it’s been a hot minute since Jacob moved his entire family from Canaan to Egypt. And while he and his family may have been living in peace with the people half a century ago, things have changed just a wee bit.
Not only do 10 of the 12 spies report back that it is too risky to try and take over the land, the people even talk about returning to Egypt to be slaves again.
