Self-Appreciation for one self is what people need these days - to be conscious and embrace the positive within, without the need of comparing to others. But why is it that some people would shy away from praise or cringe when they are being acknowledged or praised? Perhaps it is in the way that we are brought up, especially women in a very strong patriarchal environment.  They take the back seat because they think that it is their role to be “just” the support of the patriarchs in the family.


Appreciating yourself, though,  and exercising self-love and self-care is not being selfish.
