Psalm 51:1-17 - Speaker: Will Galkin - We all drift and have seasons of relational distance from God. Often, when this distance is because of our sinful choices, we try to forget it. We cover or ignore our sins. We minimize our infractions or blame them on others. When exposed, we try to compensate with good behavior. We even promise that we will never do it again. Our self-reliance reveals our lack of understanding of God’s Grace. What does God want when we sin? God wants a broken heart over our inability to save ourselves. Psalm 51:16-17 says, "For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." Our text this weekend highlights the prayer of a brokenhearted sinner who needs the grace of God.
