Frankie Dettori is 10 winners short of 3,000 in his career in Britain and was heading to Sardinia for a couple of day in the sun with his family after Monday’s press conference. Though he could well reach the milestone before Glorious Goodwood opens on 26 July, he concedes that the Sussex course would be an appropriate place to do so as it is also where he rode his first British winner in 1987.
