Since the 1990’s, movies based on video games have become somewhat of a four letter word among cinephiles and filmmakers alike. Using the time-loop plot device made famous by 1993’s "GroundHog Day", Edge of Tomorrow cements itself as the best video game movie never made; as it is not actually based on a video game, but incorporates the multiple levels and respawn mechanics found in most modern games onto the big screen. With a star-studded cast headed by action movie juggernaut Tom Cruise, “Edge of Tomorrow” is an action-packed romp that proves to be more clever than it lets on.
