Previous Episode: An Anonymous Prophet

I'd like to speak to you today from 1 Samuel 3 and in doing so renew our minds to these passages of Scripture that can sometimes get overlooked. Samuel's life took place before Israel had its kings such as Saul or David, in a period where judges operated over the land. Samuel can be considered the last judge of Israel, but also a Old Testament analog for Christ. Samuel came at a time where there was a spiritual drought, much like how Jesus came after the "400 years of silence" since Malachi. In this passage, we see Samuel hearing God's voice calling out to him. God is calling out to each one of us, and if we quiet ourselves and listen, we will be able to answer to his call.
