How do you live by your own rules? As one of seven children, Lesley Meaney had to do something extraordinary to stand out. Back in 1969, she became the first woman to swim between the home of the quokka, Rottnest Island, and mainland Australia. Lesley was warned against attempting the 20km swim because she was a woman.
