It's no secret that Black women are doing the damn thing in music, PERIOD. We are in a time where your daily playlist might include Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Chloe Bailey, Baby Tate, Normani and Flo Milli to name a few. As we close the gap within an industry that has been hard to navigate for us, we are taking ownership and diversifying the bag. The rise of Black women has also played a vital role in providing us with beautiful soundtracks of authentic stories that hold us together. But we also have a few questions: are they getting the proper credit, who deserves their flowers NOW and who signed off on Whitney Houston's hologram, because we know it wasn't her.
